Strategies to attract new progressives to participate

Welcome
This site is designed to help like-minded people connect, build community within their congressional districts, and work together peacefully, so we can assertively apply pressure on our representatives and media with minimal effort. The internet has changed the world, and the establishment has been dividing us to maintain its grip on us. Since the most critical discussions will happen in the districts, your group will need a dedicated platform, such as Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/create/, Google Groups https://groups.google.com/?pli=1, Twitter Communities https://x.com/i/communities/create, Telegram, etc. A bulletin board like this one is freeware but requires hosting and has a learning curve.) You decide the topics and who participates. I don’t control your group, but I recommend you start with a group of 10, 20, or 30 people. Your district can have more than one group. A group shouldn’t go past 100. Larger groups can become unwieldy, require rules, and develop a bureaucratic feel, which may reduce connection and increase the risk of being a target. I would focus on issues that most of us agree on, like healthcare, war, and corruption, rather than candidates or parties. This is a work in progress. I firmly believe the only way to change things is by people stepping up collectively. For a full explanation, see congressionalwatchdogcentral.org.

Strategies to attract new progressives to participate

Post by Skrups »

I believe there are many people like me; like us who feel the government is not working in the interest of its people. Many of those people are audiences to independent media. These people would be perfect for the mission of this site because they have figured out the mainstream media is propaganda. I was thinking if we can come up with 20, 30, or more people around the country who see this watchdog idea as a beneficial way to give people more leverage I suggest we collectively lobby those shows or websites through their comments or Super chats. I would ask those people to discuss the idea and invite their audience.

I think we should not call ourselves "progressives." This term has become so corrupted that I don't know what it means any more. But more importantly, we won't get anywhere if we start by alienating conservatives, who share some of the same goals that we do.

I agree. I winced when I wrote it but couldn't come with another term. What I mean by progressive is someone who wants M4A, wants to end wars, end surveillance. I am calling "progressives" as people who believe we can do better than party politics, recognize corporate media as propaganda, and the government has not been working for the people's interests. I've heard the term "independent left" as opposed to "corporate left." Unfortunately, this still might offend some. I hope the groups created here have a core of what I am calling "progressives," then I will feel we have a chance to make it work for all. If someone has a better term, I'm all for it.

Just a quick thought - I'm happy to try to think of a different name (I enjoy language/etymology), so just ask me and I'll do it - but what about 'forerunners'? It has the idea of advancing AND of being from the past (and it's from the Halo video game universe and prolly other places, so that could be a bonus).

I'm okay with it, Obi Wan. You're in charge of convincing everyone to call ourselves "Forerunners."

I agree. I think the term independents, while not disclosing a leftist ideology, still captures the notion that we all are not buying what corporate media and politicians are selling.

I see that there are many anti-war efforts in the US and around the world. Yet we continue to have war. I suspect the world has changed. People see that outside protests don't bring results because they can't be sustained; they are susceptible to being infiltrated or being derailed by paid hecklers. Outside protests present a general dissatisfaction with the government. They are not focused on the people who are responsible for creating war. I suspect that the anti-war movement, the real progressives, are looking at their screens, watching people exposing atrocities and injustices. The people doing the exposing are doing good work. They have large audiences who feel their only option is to like or retweet a critical video or article. I sense those audiences are not sure what else they can do about fixing the problems or that they are conditioned by Twitter and FB that liking and retweeting are good enough. This is the reason for the site.

I am old enough to be considered a Forerunner of most of those alive today.
But let me run down all of the terms that SHOULD describe me and why I am choosing to identify as LEFTIST.

I am old school so I if it were not for the US skewed definitions of authoritarian Democrats hijacking of the Liberal term I would normally prefer to be considered a classic liberal as in anti-authoritarian, NOT the DNC corrupted neo liberal fascist in liberal naming.
Classic liberal is complete deregulation of individual rights and freedoms. It is anti-fa, anti-authoritarian, pretty much the opposite of both the Democrats and Republicans.
No morality laws.
Freedoms like: abortion, immigration, minority rights, LGBTQI equality, no war on drugs, no ban on prostitution, minimal regulations of individuals right to do what they want if it does not harm anyone else.
Everything that I am would match the definition of a classic liberal however we cannot use that as the DNC has stolen it and corrupted it.

Progressive as in progressive taxation? Yes, I want progressive taxation as we CANNOT tax the poor at the same level as the rich. Even more progressive than progressives: I want a wealth CAP, there should be no such thing as a billionaire.

So I have adopted the term LEFTIST though in reality I am a CENTRIST because I want BOTH public AND private options for ALL essential services: health, housing, education, income, etc.
In a sane nation I would be a liberal centrist but in the US my ideas are far left of the capitalist establishment duopoly.
I VOTE Socialist because the US is way too far Capitalist lacking essential public options for many essential services such as healthcare, a living wage, housing, free college/university, transit/transportation, and employment.
I demand M4A, UBI, GND, end to the war on drugs, end to all lobbying corruption bribery insider trading etc.
The ONLY regulations should protect workers from their employers, protect marginalized communities and the environment.
We SHOULD NEVER prosecute victimless crimes, drugs prostitution, etc.
In a sane nation this is a centrist liberal moderate for a BALANCE of BOTH public AND private but with extreme individual freedom.

Also: I want far more than 2 parties in power. I vote Green or bust, I vote Peace & Freedom or bust, I vote Socialist or bust. But if our government were all Green (my favorite party), I would vote for something else, whatever is missing. We need balance. Socialism, like Capitalism goes too far when public services have a monopoly absent any private competition. We need more than 1 voice, more than 1 ideology, more than 1 party in power. I vote for a plurality in power, not a singularity nor a duopoly semblance of choice that concentrates too much power in too few hands. We wont solve ANY problems with the same people who created the problems.

Perhaps you can do a short youtube. And invite people to join.

Also, I think we should all wear white wigs to support Julian Assange.

Perhaps we can send a short video of ourselves in a wig and you can put them together. IDK because I could not put them together. But that could be your second youtube. And maybe that would start the spread.

I should like to have a section regarding voting remedies, please. Thank you.
